Angola Soundtrack
The Unique Sound Of Luanda (1968-1976)
With the ninth release Analog Africa focuses the musical landscape of a country in south-central Africa, which headed after its independence straight towards a civil war - Angola. With rhythms as Rebita, Kazukuta, Semba and Merengue angolan music is unique on the african continent. This induced Samy Ben Redjeb to realize the most troublesome project of Analog Africa. The researches were difficult, but the project got a positive feedback and found with the legendary guitarist Zé Keno a valuable helper.
Mamukueno, Os Kiezos, Jovens Do Brenda, David Zé and the other featured musicians are representing the first generation of modern music in Angola. They combine the traditional angolan rhythms with psychedelic guitar sounds from Congo, Latin, caribbean merengue and the hard beat of the Angolan carnival bands. The result is superbly melodic, raw, hypnotic and highly danceable.

The Green Arrows
4-track recording sessions
The band "The Green Arrows" playing along the legendary singer Zexie Manatsa was the most famous band in Zimbabwe during the 1970th. Samy Ben Redjeb of world music label Analog Africa discovered previously undisclosed tapes of the band and decided to bring out a cd with us. And then, something almost unbelievable happened:
The "The Green Arrows"-fever came back to Zimbabwe. As is common in Africa tapes were produced in addition to the cd, and the band was reunited after 30 years. They finally played a concert in front of thousands at the famous Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA). The production won international recognition and prepaired the ground for the further development of the label.
